December Kickoff with Friendsgiving

Happy December! This year has flown by,  especially the last couple of months. I welcomed December with a Friendsgiving feast on November 30th. Being an international student can be hard sometimes because my holidays and traditions are not normally celebrate over here in the UK. For the smaller holidays its okay, I don't really mind missing those. But for something like Thanksgiving, it can be really hard to be in a country where they don't celebrate. I am super thankful that my roomates really wanted to experience a "thanksgiving" style feast. Unfortunately we all had class on Thursday, so we decided to celebrate on saturday. We spent all of friday night decorating the kitchen to make it festive. We spent all of saturday making our dishes. I had premade my pumpkin pies, so all I had to make was some crockpot mashed potatoes. We got to hangout in the kitchen all day and had a great time. We all wanted to share the thanksgiving spirit, so we invited a bunch of our friends over as well. We had about 14 people celebrating thanksgiving! It was so fun, and I got to make some new friends as well. I really enjoyed getting to share my culture and traditions with others. I am so grateful that the people around me are so supportive and welcoming.

These are some of the decorations we put up on the bulletin board in the kitchen for the party

Here is some of the food that we made the night before the party. My pumpkin pie and cranberry sauce!

After a long weekend of fun, it was hard to pull myself to class this week. Iv'e somehow found the strength to go to class. I only have a week left until I get to go home and spend the holidays at home with my family. I am really excited to spend a month at home. Unfortunately I will have to do sime class work, and fill out PhD applications, but at least I get to be at home. The rest of the week is going to be super chill, and I am going to a light trail on campus with my friends after class. I'm a little sad to not see my friends for a month, but I am super excited to bring them back some things from the US.
