November Kick Off

Its been a busy week and a half, so this post is a going up a little later then normal. Life this past week has felt like it has flown by with how busy I have been. I started a couple of new classes this week, which means I have even more homework and prep work to do for my lectures. Getting used to the new schedule took a couple of days, but I think I have it all figured out.

Halloween happened this past week, and I was pretty sad to see that over here in the UK they don't celebrate Halloween like we do in the US. In the US we go all out with decorations and costumes. Over here in the UK, they don't celebrate as hard. Only a few people had decorations out, and the costumes I saw were a bit boring compared to what you see in the US. I did get to try all sorts of different english candies though. Most of them were pretty good, but there were a couple that were really bad. I rode my sugar rush all the way into the weekend, when I went into town to see all the leaves in the park. Castle park right now looks very autumnal, with all the leaves on the ground. It was very magical feeling to walk around and crunch all the leaves. The only thing I have to complain about with it being fall now is that the sun sets at around 4:00-4:30pm every day. I'm not used to having the sun set so early once we fall back, so it was a bit of a shock. But, I am taking my vitamin D and hoping that seasonal depression doesn't get ahold of me this year.

This was a peak into what I got to see as I walked around the castle park. Everything was super crunchy and Autumnal, and I loved it!

On November 5th, I got to go see a lovely fireworks display celebrating Guy Fawkes day. Its a new celebration for me, as I have never been in the England during November, but the fireworks were really pretty. Me and my friends from my course went into town and watched from a nearby park as the fireworks were set off. They went for about 15 minutes, and were pretty impressive. To beat the crowd, we went to McDonalds and I got to try a UK McFlurry and french fries. I will say I haven't had McDonalds in the US in a while, but the UK version didn't taste as good to me. The chicken nugget I got from a friend didn't taste the same at all. The fries and the McFlurry were good, but I think I might have to taste more of the menu before I give a final judgement.

This is a little snippet of the fireworks that I saw with my friends! The fireworks were super close, so they were extra bright and loud.

All in all I had a ton of fun this week, even if it did fly by. It was really cool to get to celebrate something new, in a new country. I am super grateful to my friends for bringing me along to join them celebrating. I can't wait to see what the rest of this week holds!

This is my fries and McFlurry. I think I got a caramel galaxy McFlurry, which was pretty good. I just got a regular medium fry, and dipped them in my ice cream.
