First Week of Classes

Last week was a very busy week, so I did not get the chance to write a post, so here I am writing about last week. Last week was the first week of classes for graduate school! it was super exciting, and also incredibly busy. I spent most of my week in classes and on campus getting to know my classmates and where everything was.

Most of my classes this past week were focused on computer work. It wasn't the most fun I have ever had in classes, but computer work and using different computer programs to help will be essential when I start my career. My classes mostly consisted of learning how to code in R. I had used R in the past for a couple of things, but taking a full intensive on it was not fun. My poor eyes hurt after every lecture. I was also introduced to endnote, which is a software used to make citations. I had never used something like this before, and it was interesting to learn. It was super useful and I definitely see myself using it in the future.

This new week has been off to a great start so far. Last week was super busy because of the coding intensive, so this week and the rest of the weeks will not be as lecture heavy. Most of my days this week are really light and only have one or two lectures going on. I was able to make some friendship bracelets at Women in STEM society event before my class yesterday. I forgot how fun it was to make them, and am super excited to potentially get some more string and beads to make some more. It was very soothing and relaxing to make the bracelets.

Graduate school has been super fun so far, and I have met some amazing people in my program. I can't wait to see what the rest of the school year is going to bring!
